The Buick Regal, also known as the Holden Commodore in Australia, Opel Insignia in most of Europe and Vauxhall Insignia in the U.K., has all been discontinued in recent years, but is still available in China and has received a second facelift to update its styling.

The 2024 Buick Regal in China features a redesigned front end with a new bumper and a massive grille, along with chrome-infused side inlets and Buick's new triple-shield emblem. The rest of the bodywork, including the profile and rear end, remains similar to the previous model year, with revised lettering and branding on the tailgate.

The interior updates seem to be limited, with leaked photos suggesting that the model will retain the old touchscreen and analog instrument cluster setup, with only a new logo on the steering wheel.

Data from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology reveal that the updated Buick Regal will be offered with a choice of turbocharged 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter petrol engines, both mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Note that the sedan is based on GM’s E2XX platform which is also used by the Buick Envision, Chevrolet Malibu, and Cadillac XT4 / GT4.

The official launch of the facelifted Buick Regal in China is expected in the coming months, and it will compete with ICE-powered rivals like the Ford Mondeo and Volkswagen Passat in the local market.
