The new Land Cruiser draws inspiration from its 1980s predecessor, the FJ62, with design elements such as a rectangular headlight array, an egg-crate grille with "TOYOTA" script, and blocky front fenders.
The front bumper of the new Land Cruiser is chunky and has a contrast-color center section to meet modern crash standards, but it retains a relatively high placement to preserve approach angles for off-roading.
The teaser images show clear distinctions between the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Lexus GX, indicating that they will likely share a platform and body structure, but the Land Cruiser's design is better suited for its intended audience.
Specific details such as dimensions and powertrain specifications are yet to be fully revealed by Toyota, but the Land Cruiser's GX cousin is expected to have a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine with 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, full-time four-wheel drive, a Torsen center differential, and selectable low range for off-road capabilities.
The all-new 2024 Land Cruiser makes its world debut August 2.
