BMW has unveiled the latest iteration of its premium sedan, the 2024 5 Series, for the North American and European markets earlier this year. Now, the automaker is introducing a version tailored specifically for the Chinese market. Joining the lineup is the highly anticipated i5 model, both of which will be produced at the Dadong plant through BMW's joint venture with Brilliance.

The 2024 5 Series, measuring 5060 millimeters (199.2 inches) in length, already surpasses its predecessor's size. However, for the Chinese market, BMW is offering the sedan exclusively in a long-wheelbase format, ensuring a comfortable ride for rear-seat passengers. Though precise dimensions are yet to be disclosed, based on the previous generation's 5 Series Li, we can expect the 2024 version to be approximately 5182 millimeters (204 inches) long.

One of the standout features for the Chinese models is the inclusion of a 31.1-inch panoramic display with 8K resolution and 5G connectivity, previously reserved for the range-topping 7 Series. In addition to this, both the combustion-powered and electric variants offer a four-zone climate control system and a premium Bowers & Wilkins audio setup.

On the exterior, the China-specific models feature distinctive elements such as new LED headlights and contour lighting for the kidney grilles. Notably, the i5 comes with an illuminated "5" on the C-pillar, which emits a light blue pulse during charging, while the combustion engine variant illuminates the number in white.

BMW has a long-standing success record in China, with over two million units of the 5 Series delivered to customers since local production commenced. From 2020 to 2022, BMW sold around 530,000 vehicles to Chinese customers.

The 2024 5 Series family is set to hit the Chinese market soon. Since the start of the local production of the sedan, more than two million units have been delivered to customers. From 2020 to 2022 alone, some 530,000 cars were sold to customers in the country.
