„The new sounds are an integral part of the digital experience and individually tailored to the character of each of the new models. They make an emotive appeal to the passengers in the interior while shaping the acoustic perception to the outside world. They also make it sound as well as look as unmistakably a MINI,” says Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. These can be experienced for the first time in the new MINI Cooper Electric.
Diving into the heart of this evolution, Mini's electric lineup for 2025 will offer a selection of four distinct "Experience Modes." Each mode delivers a carefully curated soundscape, intricately designed to match the driving atmosphere.
- Core Mode: The default setting, where lively sounds resonate both inside and outside the cabin. These sounds, apart from adding an energetic touch, also contribute to the pedestrian warning system. Mini's creative director, Renzo Vitale, aptly describes it as "sun radiating warmth," encapsulating the essence of this mode.
- Balance Mode: Tailored for the Mini Vision Urbanaut, this mode immerses drivers in a relaxing journey by infusing nature-inspired sounds. From babbling streams to the gentle rustle of trees in the wind, the road transforms into a tranquil retreat.
- Go Kart Mode: For those seeking a sportier encounter, this mode introduces higher-pitched notes to the cabin. The result? An intensified driving experience that channels the spirit of a go-kart.
- Timeless Mode: This mode bridges the past and the present, digitally recreating a symphony of sounds from Mini's illustrious history. It commences with the familiar notes of an internal combustion engine, gracefully transitioning into the futuristic hum of an electric vehicle as acceleration takes hold.
These sound experiences will be available in the electric 2025 Mini Cooper Hardtop, Countryman, and Aceman. We expect these vehicles to debut later this year and hit dealerships by mid-2024.
