Mini is preparing to release a new electric variant of the Mini Cooper, specifically the John Cooper Works (JCW) trim. This electric Mini JCW model will feature sporty upgrades such as a unique front fascia, front splitter, pronounced side sills, aggressive rear diffuser, and a sizable roof spoiler.

The new Mini Cooper will be launched later this year. The car manufacturer is already promoting the new model and has released specifications for the Cooper Electric three-door hatchback. The electric vehicle will be joined by a hotter John Cooper Works variant, which rides low in these new spy photos.

The electric Mini John Cooper Works has a distinctive front- end design and sports a front splitter with central support. The side skirts are pronounced, the rear diffuser is aggressive and the roof spoiler is large. Additionally, the Mini features large brakes that are concealed behind its wider wheels.

It is known that the 2024 Electric Cooper from Mini will be available with two battery options, which are 40.7 and 54.2 kilowatt-hours. The base model, which comes with the smaller battery pack, can generate 181 horsepower from its front-mounted motor and is expected to provide around 186 miles of range in Europe.

The Cooper SE provides 215 horsepower to its front wheels and can travel up to an estimated 249 miles due to the larger battery. Rumors suggest that the JCW will have more power than the SE, with a possible output of 250 horsepower. The increased power may reduce its range. BMW and Great Wall Motors co-developed a specialized platform called Spotlight, which forms the basis of the Cooper EV series.

We know that the Mini will have a big 9.44-inch OLED display in the center of the dashboard. In the pictures, the car's cabin revealed last month, there was no traditional dashboard. Conversely, a clear screen at the bottom of the windshield gives relevant information to the driver. The large central display has several uses besides entertainment, and displays the car's speed at the top of the screen.

The Mini will have a big 9.44-inch OLED display in the center of the dashboard. Last month, the company provided a sneak peek of the car's interior. The images lacked a regular instrument cluster. Instead, a transparent screen at the bottom of the windshield presents important details for the driver. The large central screen will have several functions other than just entertainment, and will show the car's speed at the top of the display.

Mini intends to offer both electric and gasoline-powered variants of the next-gen Cooper, so if you're not interested in an electric JWC, you'll have other choices. The company has already been spotted testing a gas-powered JCW, as shown in spy photos.

Mini is currently presenting the upcoming model, which is scheduled to hit the market later this year. But the car company may not show the electric John Cooper Works until late 2024, for the 2025 model year.
