BYD will install Canadian media firm Stingray’s popular karaoke singing app in many of its new energy vehicles which will be rolled out in markets around the world. New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) is the Chinese term for vehicles powered entirely or predominantly by electric energy, including plug-in hybrids.

According to the Shenzhen-based firm, Stingray’s app will be seamlessly integrated into BYD’s infotainment system, will support dozens of languages and will provide an engaging and intuitive user experience for all BYD owners.

“We are thrilled to partner with BYD and provide their customers with an unparalleled karaoke experience on the go while expanding our brand exposure worldwide,” said Eric Boyko, president, co-founder and chief executive officer of Montreal-based Stingray.

“Everyone loves to sing in the car. Stingray’s unique Karaoke app and comprehensive library of songs is a great fit for BYD drivers and their passengers,” said Stella Li, CEO of BYD Americas.

BYD’s NEVs are sold in more than 40 countries and regions, including Australia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand, Germany and the UK. The carmaker shifted over 1.25 million units in the first half. More than 70,000 units were sold in the international market, almost double the same period last year.
