The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is the second generation of the AMG GT, evolving into a 2+2 sports car with fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive.

The high-performance machine is transitioning into a more practical 2+2 sports car with fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive. Initially, it will be available exclusively in "63" and "55" variants, featuring V8 power. It remains to be seen if the SL 43's four-cylinder engine with 375 horsepower will be introduced later in its life cycle.

The range-topping AMG GT 63 Coupe impresses with its powerful performance. Its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine delivers a remarkable 577 horsepower and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque, matching the output of the SL 63. Accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, it outpaces the roadster by 0.4 seconds. Opting for the AMG GT 55 Coupe offers a still impressive 469 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm), aligning with the equivalent SL model. This version accomplishes the sprint in 3.8 seconds, perfectly matching the roadster's performance.

At full throttle, the hotter of the two coupes can reach a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h), while the entry-level variant still manages an impressive 183 mph (295 km/h). Both the "63" and "55" models feature all-wheel drive and are equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission, which replaces the torque converter with a wet start-off clutch. The V8 engine, equipped with standard active mounts, ensures power distribution between the axles is balanced, or can send all the power exclusively to the rear axle.

The dynamic duo is equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, rear-wheel steering, and composite brake discs with 390-mm front discs. In 2024, AMG plans to introduce ceramic brakes with larger 420-mm discs at the front axle. Both variants benefit from a sports suspension featuring semi-active hydraulic roll stabilization, adaptive shock absorbers, and a front lift system that raises the nose by 1.18 inches (30 millimeters).

The new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is set to arrive at dealerships in the United States during the first half of 2024. Although the price tag has not been disclosed yet, we can get a reference point from the starting price of $141,300 for the SL 55 and $183,000 for the SL 63. As of now, there is no information available regarding the European prices of this exciting Mercedes-AMG addition.
