Coachbuilt Rolls-Royce Droptail unveiled at Monterey, limited to just four examples

Rolls-Royce Coachbuild division has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the highly exclusive Droptail, at Monterey Car Week. With only four units produced worldwide, the car showcased in California is the first of its kind, known as La Rose Noire.

The La Rose Noire Droptail draws inspiration from the Black Baccara, a beloved French rose adored by the family who commissioned it. Its exquisite red exterior has a remarkable quality, appearing almost black in the shade while revealing a captivating pearlescent red glow under the sunlight. Rolls-Royce skillfully crafted this distinctive paint by seamlessly blending two shades of red, aptly named True Love and Mystery.

The Droptail stands out with its unique exterior design. The front end features a large chrome grille and slim LED headlights, while the bodywork flows smoothly along the sides. The rear end showcases distinctive taillights, a stylish spoiler, and an eye-catching decklid. Additionally, the Droptail includes a removable carbon fiber roof panel with electrochromic panels.

Unlike the Rolls-Royce Sweptail and Boat Tail, the Droptail has a new monocoque chassis made from steel, aluminum, and carbon fiber. It features the marque's 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, producing 593 hp and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. While not focused on straight-line performance, it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under 5.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

According to Rolls-Royce, the car's interior is its most remarkable feature. It took nearly two years to perfect and showcase complex artwork resembling falling rose petals. The seats are adorned with a combination of True Love red and Mystery red leather. In the center of the dashboard, there's a custom timepiece by Audemars Piguet. This 43 mm chronograph incorporates red counters and a red inner bezel, featuring a flying chronograph. Interestingly, the timepiece can be detached at the press of a button and worn with a strap.

Not only that, but the family who commissioned the car also requested a unique Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest to complement their vehicle. With just a press of a button, this exquisite chest opens up, revealing hand-blown crystal champagne flutes and a stylish serving tray. It's the epitome of luxury and sophistication.

Rolls-Royce has not disclosed the price for each of the four Droptail models, but rumors are circulating on the internet that estimates the cost to be around $25 million for each vehicle.
