Rivian, maker of the R1S all-electric SUV and R1T pickup, now has a patent for what looks like a camp kitchen designed specifically for the four-door, zero-emission SUV. The application mentions a retractable module, and the images show a cooktop and several drawers.

First spotted by a Rivian Forums user, the patent - filed on July 18 and granted a month later - shows an expandable countertop with a small cutting board on the left, a cooktop in the middle, and what appears to be a collapsible trash can.

There are two storage compartments above, and everything slides in and out of the trunk on rails, making life easier when camping or overlanding. The patent summary mentions several possible configurations, with the possibility of adding what's called a "water pumping device" consisting of at least one water reservoir and a retractable hose, which should come in handy after a long day of hiking and sweating.

As you can see from the drawings, the featured vehicle is actually the Rivian R1S, but as is the case with some patent applications, this particular one may not become a reality, even though it looks like the perfect fit for adventurers who want to take their all-electric SUV into the wilderness and camp out as they would with a custom-built kitchen in the back of an ICE-powered vehicle.
