Jeep Brand CEO Christian Meunier revealed in an April press announcement that the 2024 Jeep Wrangler was close to reaching five million global sales since its debut in 1986. That figure now needs an update, as the milestone has been achieved.
As of today, according to Jeep North America CEO Jim Morrison, the five millionth Wrangler was officially sold last night, specifically on August 28. This coincides with Jeep's new global advertising initiative to spotlight its most recent Wrangler model. Accompanied by the timeless hip-hop track "California Love" by 2Pac, the "Famous for Freedom" campaign aims to nod to the '90s while recognizing the influence of hip-hop on advertising and societal norms.
"Music has long played a pivotal role in our rich history of advertising, and as the industry marks the 50th year of hip-hop, the Jeep brand has been granted the enormous honor of incorporating the elusive California Love anthem track into our Famous for Freedom campaign for our new 2024 Jeep Wrangler," said Stellantis Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois.
Regarding the five millionth Wrangler, unfortunately, specific information such as the model year, trim, or color hasn't been disclosed. It's most likely a 2023 version since the 2024 models are just now landing in showrooms. The newest iteration features a reduced seven-bar grille and offers a first-of-its-kind Dana 44 HD Full Float solid axle on Rubicon versions. Additionally, an 8,000-pound (3,628 kilograms) winch is available as an option for the 2024 Rubicon Wrangler.

All 2024 Wranglers have received minor interior enhancements, including a larger 12.3-inch infotainment display. This required the removal of the Wrangler's signature central round air vents, although they are still located at the edges of the dashboard. This is a subtle alteration that nevertheless makes a noticeable visual impact.
The new hip-hop-influenced Wrangler campaign will be visible to prospective buyers in North America, Japan, China, Australia, Europe, and South Korea. In the United States, the starting MSRP for a Wrangler is set at $33,690. For those interested in a fully-loaded Rubicon 392, the price tag can reach close to $100,000.
