Xpeng X9: A futuristic minivan with seven seats and up to 503 horsepower

Documents submitted by Xpeng to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have officially revealed the details of their new X9 minivan. With a silver finish, a sleek, extended windshield, and a distinctive beltline, the vehicle looks like a hybrid design of a Tesla Cybertruck and a Honda Odyssey.

The filings indicate that the X9 will be available in two different powertrain options. The single-motor version will channel 320 hp (235 kW) to the wheels, allowing for a maximum speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). The vehicle's weight, supported by an undisclosed-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery, will be 3,125 kg (6,889 lbs).

The dual-motor model will weigh slightly more at 3,210 kg (7,077 lbs) and will have the same top speed. However, this version will feature a lithium-ion battery and motors that generate 320 hp (235 kW) and 184 hp (135 kW), adding up to a total of 503 hp (370 kW).

Regardless of the chosen powertrain, the X9 will provide space for up to seven occupants, thanks to its roomy dimensions. With measurements of 5293x1988x1785 mm (208 x 78 x 70 inches), the X9 is marginally longer than a Chrysler Pacifica.

The X9 is entering a highly competitive electric minivan market, squaring off against rivals like the Zeekr 009, Hycan V09, Denza D9, and the forthcoming Li Auto Mega. VW recently expressed its confidence in Xpeng, announcing plans to utilize the Chinese company's platform in the market.

The Xpeng X9 is expected to go on sale later this year, with pricing details likely to be released at the official launch.
