The BMW i5 incorporates an 'Anti-Theft Recorder' that utilizes both interior and exterior cameras of the car to record anyone attempting unauthorized entry.

BMW i5 is a significant electric vehicle in the company's lineup. Although it's unlikely to surpass the sales of its internal combustion engine 5-Series counterparts anytime soon, BMW is actively marketing its innovative features to boost sales. One such feature is the 'Anti-Theft Recorder.'

A 40-second video released by BMW on YouTube shows the feature in action. The video shows two would-be thieves approaching an i5 at night while talking to agents from a control center eager to unlock the secrets of the electric 5-Series. After spotting the i5, they attempt to open the car's doors, but the alarm is immediately triggered and they are forced to escape.

While having an alarm system is not particularly groundbreaking, the i5 distinguishes itself by using exterior cameras to take real-time photos of would-be intruders and sends them directly to the car owner's smartphone. Additionally, the system captures video from interior cameras and can transmit this to the My BMW app. The 'Anti-Theft Recorder' of the BMW i5 closely resembles Tesla's well-known Sentry Mode.
