The front design aligns with the BMW 5 Series sedan. The front displays a minimalist facade with a trapezoid-shaped trim housing a rectangular slot in its center. The grille and headlights closely resemble those of the sedan.
Modifications can be observed post the B-pillar, where the Touring version boasts a lengthened roofline, forming the wagon's hatchback. The rear lights have an L-shaped design and envelop the back, closely mirroring the BMW 530e's recent images. The exhaust outlets are barely noticeable in the images taken from the back angled view.
Patent images of the next-generation BMW 5 Series Touring
Rumors suggest that the M5 Touring will feature a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 coupled with an electric unit. This combination produces 735 horsepower in the BMW XM, suggesting the wagon might offer even more power.
The BMW i5 Touring is expected to feature a predominantly sealed front, given that EVs don't need the same ventilation as ICE vehicles. The sedan's version is named the i5 eDrive40, delivering 335 hp, whereas the i5 M60 xDrive offers a heightened 590 hp. Both are powered by a battery with a total capacity of 84.3 kilowatt-hours.
The unveiling of the 5 Series Touring might happen before this year concludes. If it gets delayed, anticipate its launch in 2024, with sales commencing later the same year.
