Seemingly, it's set to be the commercial adaptation of the Toyota bZ Small Crossover Concept from last year.

Toyota is evidently ramping up its commitment to electrification. Word on the street is that they're working on a compact electric SUV, and this endeavor is said to be a joint venture with Suzuki. This new model is speculated to make its first appearance in 2025 and might just be the final rendition of the Toyota bZ Small Crossover Concept shown here.

The bond between Toyota and Suzuki isn't new. Both giants have been part of rebadging ventures and technological swaps to cater to their global market needs. Several joint initiatives from these two are already on sale in parts of Europe, India, South Africa, and Southeast Asia.

As per Japan's Best Car publication, Toyota is looking to tap into the rising popularity of small electric vehicles at home. However, it seems probable that this vehicle will find its way to international markets, Europe included. The choice of Suzuki as a co-developer supposedly stems from their expertise in crafting small vehicles.

The bZ Small Crossover was one of the 15 concepts Toyota and Lexus introduced at a unique event in December 2021. It was presented both as digital images and a physical, life-sized model with tinted windows, indicating its position as the tiniest in the forthcoming all-electric bZ series.

During its reveal, Toyota emphasized that the bZ Small Crossover was primarily conceived for the European and Japanese audience, echoing recent updates. The brand kept specifics under wraps, only revealing that the vehicle was built on the eTNGA framework with an aimed power usage of 125 Wh/km. When it comes to dimensions, this concept seems to be somewhere between Toyota's Aygo X, measuring 3,700 mm (145.7 inches), and the Yaris Cross at 4,180 mm (164.6 inches), though precise figures are still under wraps.

The projected 2025 launch of Toyota's mini electric SUV aligns with the roll-out of Suzuki's eVX production model. The latter, however, is expected to have a larger footprint, considering its conceptual size is 4,300 mm (169.3 inches). Chances are, Suzuki will capitalize on this partnership to roll out its rendition of the electric vehicle, targeting not just Japan but also international markets, such as India. This segment may soon see competition from electric versions like the Hyundai Casper and the eagerly awaited VW ID.1, set to launch in 2026.
