Despite newer competitors on the market, the Lexus LS continues its journey into the 2024 model year in Japan, persisting as the familiar fifth-generation model. However, it's not entirely unchanged.

The large luxury sedan introduces several technological enhancements to stay current. Most notable among these is the entirely digital dashboard boasting a 12.3-inch screen and refreshed graphics. Furthermore, a driving recorder, capturing views from the front and back, is now a standard feature.

The 2024 LS integrates with an application, transforming your phone into a digital key. This allows users to lock/unlock the vehicle and even ignite the engine. Opt for the LS 500h, and Lexus now includes an external power outlet, proving useful during emergencies.

Recall that in the 2021 model year, the LS was equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and introduced four-wheel steering for its rear-wheel-drive variants. The 2024 model in Japan expands this rear-wheel steering feature to models with AWD. In future iterations, Lexus plans to incorporate a radiator support brace in certain models, enhancing body firmness and refining steering feedback.

Ride comfort receives a minor boost as the design team adjusted the suspension across both front and rear ends. The exhaust pipe's supporting rubber component has been repositioned to diminish vibrations. Additionally, the Comfort setting now incorporates a mechanism to minimize rear shaking, ensuring a more stable journey for passengers seated in the back.

The Japanese 2024 Lexus LS model integrates an enhanced Advanced Drive system, capable of navigating congested areas at speeds reaching 25 mph (40 km/h). It also incorporates the Lexus Safety System +, designed to deter the driver from nearing pedestrians, cyclists, or stationary vehicles by autonomously steering and braking.

Furthermore, the LS 500 comes standard with the Advanced Park feature, assisting with parallel parking. The LS 500h introduces a remote function tied to this system, allowing owners to alight from the hybrid sedan and use a specific smartphone app to park the vehicle.

Lexus is set to release the 2024 LS in Japan on October 16, with price tags ranging from 10,940,000 yen ($73,500 based on current rates) to a high of 17,990,000 yen ($121,000).
