Set to kick off on October 25 with its initial press day, the 2023 Japan Mobility Show isn't just about cars. Various firms will be showcasing different modes of transport. Yamaha has confirmed its participation in the event, previously called the Tokyo Motor Show, where it will display motorcycles, scooters, e-bikes, and other multi-wheel concepts.
The featured YXZ1000R now operates on hydrogen fuel while retaining its internal combustion engine. This off-road vehicle aims to preserve the advantages of traditional combustion engines, like their distinct sound and driving sensation, but without emissions. Yamaha aims to sustain the unique qualities of these engines for the future.
Also catching attention is the Tricera, a three-wheel autocycle boasting an electric powertrain and a roofless design. Developed with rear-wheel steering, it promises enhanced agility on congested urban roads. While more specifics aren't available, it seems to present a less ostentatious and likely more economical option compared to vehicles like the Polaris Slingshot.
Regarding the TMW, this is Yamaha's inaugural Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW) designed for off-road use. It features a hybrid powertrain with electric hub motors propelling the front wheels and a traditional combustion engine driving the rear wheel. The vehicle seems to offer ample suspension travel and includes a large front-mounted cargo rack. Reportedly, the cargo space remains stable even when traversing uneven surfaces or when tilted.
