The latest R 1300 GS is billed by BMW as the strongest bike in its category, thanks to its 1,300cc boxer engine. This powerhouse can generate a robust 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque.
Typically, motorcycles in this segment offer three types of storage systems: two side cases and one top case. These aren't new to BMW's accessory line but have been fully updated and designed specifically for the R 1300 GS, making them incompatible with older models.

Each side case can hold up to 10 kg (22 pounds), and you can strap on an extra 1 kg (2.2 pounds) using tension straps. Each case can also hold a BMW Helmet 7. What's new is that the left case now features a USB-A charging port, allowing you to charge devices like smartphones and tablets.
The top case is also equipped with a USB-A port and has integrated lighting and radio-controlled central locking. You can use a physical key as well. It's spacious enough for a BMW Helmet GS and can handle a maximum weight of 6 kg (13 pounds). In total, all three cases can carry up to 26 kg (57 pounds) and offer a combined volume of up to 97 liters (26 gallons).

The cases have a volume adjustment system for easy expansion and come with several inner bags. One small bag can even serve as a handbag if needed.
BMW notes that the R 1300 GS can reach speeds up to 180 kph (112 mph) when equipped with these storage units, which should be sufficient for long-distance riders.
The company has yet to disclose the pricing and availability of these new cases.
