On Friday the 13th, BMW's Regensburg Plant in Germany had reason to celebrate, reaching a notable production landmark: eight million vehicles manufactured. The highlight was the fully electric BMW iX1 xDrive30, featuring a sleek Space Silver metallic exterior.

Currently, the Regensburg Plant produces up to 1,000 cars every day. The lineup includes popular models such as the BMW 1 Series, BMW X1, and X2, which are shipped worldwide. Adding to the milestone's significance is the fact that the BMW iX1 xDrive30 is an all-electric model. The Regensburg facility is leading the charge in shifting to electric cars, with both the X1 and the newly launched BMW X2.

Olaf Möllhoff, the person in charge of Production Control and strategic planning for the Regensburg Plant, stated, “With the also fully electric BMW iX2, we will introduce another BEV offering from BMW in the high-volume compact class starting in November. Preparations are in full swing.”

To meet the rising demand for electric cars, the plant will add a night shift starting this November, moving to a three-shift operation. This change reflects the growing interest in electric vehicles and the plant's dedication to serving this expanding market.

Davide Vitolo, Head of Personnel, pointed out, “Electric mobility is a growth driver for our plant. Already, we are running additional shifts on selected Saturdays.”

This shift toward electric vehicles offers not just environmental benefits but also opens up job opportunities. By the end of the year, BMW will invest more than 350 million euros in the Regensburg Plant for vehicle manufacturing. Alongside this investment, the plant aims to bring on about 500 new full-time employees.
