Casio's Edifice is a new watch designed to pay respect to the legacy of the Honda Type R, with many of the custom features referencing the performance-oriented models.

The outer ring of the watch's dial is painted in Championship White, an exclusive Type R shade. Edifice added a matching ivory-white leather strap with all the Civic, Integra and NSX Type R vehicle codes engraved on the side, and a contrasting Alcantara back with red stitching.

The watch's case is made of carbon fiber-reinforced resin, while the back of the dial has a dark honeycomb pattern reminiscent of a car's grille. Red is closely associated with the Type R series, so it couldn't be missing from the watch, including a red Honda emblem with a 3D look. The Type R emblems can be found on the metal ring, the stopwatch button and the back of the watch, ensuring that they are visible from all angles.

While this is not a smartwatch, it can still connect to the user's smartphone via Bluetooth for some extra functionality without any fancy sensors. Instead, the connectivity is used to automatically adjust the time based on region and season, store date/time/location stamps in the dedicated application, set timers and alarms, transfer stopwatch data, and locate your smartphone as long as you're within range.

The built-in solar charger allows the watch to run for approximately 7 months on a full charge. Like other Edifice watches, the Honda Type R special features dual LED illumination and scratch-resistant, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

Casio will officially unveil the watch during the Super Formula GP at the Suzuka Circuit on October 29, and will begin taking orders on November 1.

The price of the Edifice Honda Type R Edition is ¥55,000 ($367) including tax in Japan. This is not the first collaboration between Casio Edifice and Honda, following last year's motorsport-themed Honda Racing Red Edition watch.
