Opel Combo facelift debuts with "Vizor" hallmark design element

Stellantis recently unveiled a number of facelifted LCVs, and now each brand is independently presenting their models with more detail. Opel leads the way with the updated Combo, which returns with a redesigned face and more technology in the cabin.

This fourth-generation Opel Combo, originally introduced in 2018, shares many components with other vehicles such as the Citroen Berlingo, Opel Partner, Toyota ProAce City, and Fiat Doblo. In its 2024 iteration, it receives the Opel Vizor design treatment seen across Opel's passenger lineup.

The updated Opel Combo boasts slimmer headlights, now optionally available with Intelli-Lux LED Matrix technology, a first for LCVs. These headlights are integrated beneath the distinctive "Vizor" panel that covers the grille. The redesigned bumper includes interconnected intakes, and the hood is now flush with the grille, aligning with Opel's current design language.

While the exterior changes focus on the front end, the rest of the bodywork remains largely unchanged. The Opel Combo is available in standard and long bodystyles, consistent with other Stellantis offerings in the compact van segment.

Inside, a notable addition is the new 10-inch digital instrument cluster positioned behind the redesigned steering wheel. This pairs with a slimmer, free-standing 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, although lower trim levels feature a smartphone dock instead. The digital cockpit is powered by Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms from Qualcomm Technologies and supports the latest connectivity features. Safety features have also been upgraded, including the dual-camera Dynamic Surround Vision and up to 18 available ADAS, including optional Adaptive Cruise Control.

The Opel Combo can accommodate two or three seats at the front, and a five-seater Crew Cab variant is available for professionals who need to transport more passengers. Depending on the bodystyle, the van offers up to 4.4 cubic meters of cargo space. In its fully electric configuration, it can carry a 780 kg payload and tow up to 750 kg.

The Opel Combo Electric is equipped with a single electric motor producing 136 hp (100 kW) and 270 Nm of torque, powered by a 50 kWh battery pack. Although the specifications match its predecessor, the WLTP range has been extended to 320 km due to the inclusion of a heat pump and modifications to the regenerative braking system.

The lineup also includes petrol and diesel variants, likely featuring the 1.2 PureTech and 1.5 BlueHDi powertrains. The petrol version will exclusively offer a manual gearbox, while the diesel variant will provide an automatic transmission option.

The facelifted Opel Combo and Combo Electric are set to hit the market before the end of the year. It's anticipated that Opel will soon release the similarly updated Combo Life minivan, which is the electric-only passenger version of the LCV. This model is expected to share specifications with the recently updated Peugeot E-Rifter and the upcoming Citroen E-Berlingo and Fiat E-Scudo.
