The Ineos Grenadier, a successor to the classic Land Rover Defender, has been available in the US since late September, with deliveries commencing this month. This versatile off-roader, starting at $71,500, can be customized using an interactive configurator, reminiscent of video game customization

A highlight of the Grenadier is the $79,190 Fieldmaster Edition, which includes standard features like a rear-mounted access ladder and safari windows. Additionally, the optional $585 exterior utility belt offers enhanced storage and leisure equipment attachment capabilities. Notably, for an extra $95, buyers can adorn the right fender with an American flag plaque, a dealer-installed option that replaces the twin flag badge. This personalization feature, however, is unavailable for models with a raised air intake (snorkel).

Manufactured in the Hambach factory, formerly a Daimler Smart car production site, the Grenadier showcases international collaboration. It boasts German-sourced inline-six engines from BMW and a ZF eight-speed transmission. Ineos Automotive, the UK-headquartered company behind the Grenadier, is a subsidiary of London-based Ineos Group, a multinational chemicals company.

In the US market, the Grenadier is sold exclusively as a gasoline-fueled SUV with a BMW B58 3.0-liter engine. However, international markets also offer the Quartermaster dual cab pickup truck, featuring a B57 diesel engine of Bavarian origin. While the base price of the SUV is $71,500, a fully loaded version can exceed $90,000.
