The current Acura MDX infotainment system is controlled by a small touchpad that resembles a laptop touchpad. Clicking at a certain point on the panel corresponds to clicking at the same spot on the infotainment system screen. It takes some time to get used to, but is quite comfortable and intuitive as the driver doesn't need to reach for the display. But with software like Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, touch controls directly through the screen are still more logical.
Other Acura models, including the new Integra and the upcoming all-electric ZDX, have already abandoned touchpads. According to Motor1, the updated MDX will also be without this infotainment control system.
Apart from this, the 2024 MDX will get a new premium audio system from Bang & Olufsen, new driver assistance features and inbuilt Google software that allows the driver to seamlessly use features like Maps, Assistant and Play Store without having to tether the phone.
The automaker has not revealed an exact release date for the updated MDX. According to unofficial information, the cars will be available at dealers in the US by spring.
