Opel is said to be dropping its plans for the electric Manta model. According to a recent report by L'Automobile Magazine, the company has shifted its focus towards a classic model range.

L’Automobile merely mentions “internal considerations”, according to which Opel should concentrate on a classic model range and not leave this framework. According to the portal’s information, the plans for an electric Insignia of the next generation were also cancelled with this justification.

Former Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller had declared in summer 2021 that a launch for the Manta-e was anticipated by mid-decade. This announcement followed a positive reception to the Manta GSe ElektroMOD concept earlier in May 2021.

Furthermore, an all-electric Insignia successor was confirmed in March 2022. However, this decision was overturned after July of the same year when production of the Insignia B ceased. The GM platform it used wasn't compatible with electrification. However, there has already been speculation in the media that one of the four E-series from the Melfi plant will be the Insignia’s successor.
