Originally shown at the 2023 Tokyo Auto Salon, these cars draw inspiration from champions Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä. Both supervised the project, having won the World Rally Championship in 2020 and 2021 for Ogier and 2022 and 2023 for Rovanperä.
Akio Toyoda, Chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation and known as "Morizo" in racing circles, praised the drivers and teams involved in rally sports. Toyoda expressed his respect and gratitude through a quote stating he wishes to honor those "who hone and grow our cars in rallies," including teams, organizers, and fans.
The special editions boast a powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with impressive specs: 280 horsepower and a torque of 390 Nm. These are paired with a six-speed intelligent manual transmission. Furthermore, Gravel and Track modes have been reprogrammed to suit driver preferences.
Two distinct models pay homage to their namesake drivers:
Ogier Edition - This edition offers unique AWD control modes named 'Morizo' and 'Seb'. - The exterior features Matt Stealth Grey paintwork, with distinctive elements like a French flag on the grille, BBS alloy wheels measuring 18x8J, adorned with WRC commemorative stickers. - Inside, there's an exclusive plaque commemorating WRC victories alongside stitching colors of blue, grey, and red. Additionally featuring an 'Ogier Edition' logo.
Ogier Edition
Rovanperä Edition - Includes tailored 'Donut' and 'Kalle' driving modes. - Its striking three-tone exterior paint was designed by Rovanperä’s own race helmet designer. This is complemented by WRC victory stickers, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing decals, and a unique 'Rovanperä Edition' badge. - The cabin incorporates WRC victory plaques with an elegant stitch combination of blue and grey.
