The price hike is attributed to the country's emissions tax scale.

In France, the starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the Toyota GR Yaris with a manual transmission is €46,300. For those opting for an automatic transmission, the starting price is slightly higher at €48,800. These prices are set before the application of any emissions tax.

The GR Yaris’s CO2 emissions stand at 190 grams per kilometer for the manual transmission model and 210 grams per kilometer for the automatic version. Such emissions levels place these vehicles in high tax brackets according to the local government's scale.

Emissions taxes add significantly to the final cost. The additional cost reaches approximately €45,990 for manual models and spikes to €60,000 for vehicles with automatic transmission. Consequently, total prices after including emissions taxes escalate to €92,290 for the manual version and about €108,800 for its automatic counterpart.

Toyota France is still relatively optimistic about the popularity of the GR Yaris, despite its very high price. The company has reserved 300 units for the local market.
