The new MG Whale is slightly larger than the Renault Arkana, yet shorter than the BMW X4.

The MG Whale is 4.70 metres long, has a wheelbase of 2.77 metres, a width of 1.90 metres and a height of 1.69 metres. The front of the car with a spectacular grille is meant to resemble the mouth of a whale. On the sides of the grille are vertical LED headlamps, and in the upper part there are daytime running lights connected by a chrome strip.

The profile is accentuated by a two-tone paint job. The car has integrated door handles and 19-inch wheels with 235/45 R19 tyres. At the rear, there is an unusual design of lights, a large spoiler above the boot door and twin chrome exhaust tips.

The MG Whale's interior welcomes a 12.3-inch curved dual display, a "floating" centre console and a large gear selector reminiscent of a whale's tail. Ambient lighting, two-tone leather interior and a power panoramic sunroof are available for the car. The boot holds 382 litres and with the seats folded down, it has a capacity of 1,458 litres.

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 231bhp and 370Nm of torque between 2000 and 4000rpm. The four-cylinder engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front axle.

The presentation of the new MG took place in the UAE. There MG Whale is available in two configurations: Comfort and Luxury. The car comes with keyless access and engine start, electrically operated and heated sports seats, wireless charger, cruise control, nine-speaker audio system and parking sensors. Other interesting features include lane keeping assistant, 360-degree camera system, automatic emergency braking, navigation, a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a power tailgate and a choice of driving profiles.

Whether the MG Whale will appear in Europe is not yet known. We can only assume that with the 2.0-litre petrol engine it is unlikely. In the UAE Whale is sold with a warranty of 6 years or 200 000 km. Pricing for the Comfort configuration starts at AED 88,000, which is equivalent to €22,185 or $23,960.
