Hyundai Mobis designers have developed an "integrated front panel module" for electric vehicles to bring back the familiar front grille, even though it is often not required in electric vehicles. The module uses various components, including active louvres, to control airflow and improve aerodynamics. The module also features active air curtains and bonnet vents to optimise battery cooling. This improves the efficiency of the electric vehicle and gives it a more classic appearance.
The front panel module can increase the electric vehicle's range by around 20 kilometres. This innovation is particularly useful for crossovers and SUVs, which don't have many options for improving aerodynamics. The car can also be equipped with an automatic charger ejection function and a retractable LiDAR sensor that works only while driving and hides while parked. Unfortunately, the developers do not yet know when the new technology will be used in production models.
