Volkswagen is introducing an update to its commercial vehicle, the VW Crafter, with several technical modifications and improvements to the cockpit.

Volkswagen has updated its large van, with changes that are not immediately noticeable from the outside. However, the refreshed model, which can be pre-ordered from April 2024, will feature a number of technical changes.

The cockpit has been completely revised, now featuring the latest generation infotainment system, a multifunction steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, and various assistance systems. A key option is the digital voice assistant with ChatGPT integration.

There are also standard digital instruments and a new 10.3-inch infotainment screen. An optional 12.9-inch touchscreen is also available, which is free-standing on the dashboard. The software features a newly developed graphic interface and self-explanatory menu navigation.

The handbrake, automatic transmission switch, light function controls, buttons in the centre console area, and air vents have all been redesigned.

The following systems will be standard on all new Crafters in the future: Front Assist, Lane Assist, traffic sign recognition, a speed limiter, and an acoustic parking aid for the rear. Additionally, Travel Assist will be available as an option for the first time, which includes Emergency Assist.

It is not yet known how much VW Commercial Vehicles will charge for the new technology package in the Crafter compared to the current model. We believe that a moderate increase in the base price is very realistic.
