Images of the off-beat SUV have been leaked on various social media platforms and forums, with an overall design that appears to have been conceived in the mold of the dramatic iX electric SUV, fusing futuristic and revolutionary cues with new interpretations of some of BMW's most notable design cues.
These include upright kidney grilles modeled on those of the first-generation Neue Klasse cars of the 1960s.
The five-seat SUV will replace the existing iX3 and will be closely related to the new i3 sedan, which was previewed as the Neue Klasse concept at the Munich Motor Show last September.
Powertrain details remain scarce, but the new iX3 will be one of the first cars to sit on BMW's new EV-specific Neue Klasse platform and will be available in rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts in both standard and M-branded performance guises.
Production of the new SUV will begin in 2025 at a new plant in Debrecen, Hungary.
