Japanese website BestCarWeb has published interesting details about the upcoming Toyota Land Cruiser FJ small SUV.

BestCarWeb has learned that the small Land Cruiser, despite its compact size (compared to the regular Land Cruiser) will have a frame construction. That is, it will be a full-fledged off-roader, and not another urban crossover with big wheels.

By the way, the name Land Cruiser Mini, common in the network, is conditional, so as not to confuse it with other Toyota. Back in autumn 2023, the Japanese company registered the trademarks "Land Cruiser FUN" and "Land Cruiser FJ", so it is most likely that the production car will be called Land Cruiser FJ. Although there is no 100 per cent guarantee yet.

Another interesting news concerns the engine. The new SUV will get a very reliable 4-cylinder 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol motor. This power unit appeared in 2004 and in different years was installed on such cars as Toyota Hilux, 4Runner and Land Cruiser J150 (also known as Land Cruiser Prado).

The engine will have a power output of 163bhp. The company considered a hybrid powertrain and a diesel 2.8-litre motor for this model, but for some reason these units were abandoned. Probably to make the small SUV cheaper.

Land Cruiser FJ will be all-wheel drive. According to preliminary information, its dimensions will be: 4 500 x 1 830 x 1 850 mm, and wheelbase - 2 750 mm. For comparison, the length of the 5-door Suzuki Jimny is 3,965 mm.

The premiere of the SUV is expected in December this year, the estimated price - from 3.5 to 4.5 million yen (about 23 - 30 thousand U.S. dollars).
