Chinese car giant Geely has announced the next generation of its Geely Raytheon Hybrid Platform to be released later this year.

Geely promises a big leap forward in terms of autonomy and fuel economy. The maximum combined range (petrol and electric) of cars on the new platform will be more than 2,000 km, and petrol consumption will be just 2 litres per 100 km.

According to Geely, the new generation hybrid system has achieved a thermal efficiency of 46 per cent, one of the highest in the world. This achievement was presented during the publication of Geely's 2023 report, where the company also emphasised its ambition to become a world leader in hybrid technology.

It should be clarified that Geely Raytheon's hybrid platform was launched in 2021 and is already used in several production models such as the Geely Xingyue L Hi-X and Lynk & Co 01 EM-P. The new generation of the architecture will bring even more improvements such as a more efficient engine, a 3-speed DHT Pro gearbox and remote software update (OTA) capability for the entire hybrid system.

Geely also announced that apart from Volvo, it has already partnered with other premium brands and renowned carmakers to deliver its hybrid system. This strategy is aimed at expanding Geely's technology presence in the global market, including through brands such as Zeekr.
