The partnership between Metallica and Iveco, a commercial vehicle manufacturer, began last November.According to Iveco CEO Gerrit Marx, the band is keen to reduce the carbon footprint of its tours. For this purpose, Iveco will provide Metallica with an array of electric and natural gas vehicles. These include the S-eWay heavy-duty electric trucks in both battery-electric (BEV) and fuel cell (FCEV) variants with ranges up to 500 kilometers (311 miles) and 800 kilometers (497 miles), respectively. Additionally, the eDaily electric shuttle vehicle will be available for crew transport.
Besides electric options, Iveco will also supply S-Way LNG trucks that operate on natural gas and can travel up to 1,600 kilometers (994 miles) without refueling.
The tour will feature concerts in cities like Munich, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Warsaw, and Madrid. This decision is part of Metallica's effort to decrease the carbon footprint associated with their tours.
