Lamborghini has unveiled a new plug-in hybrid version of its Urus SUV. Dubbed the Urus SE, the vehicle maintains a high-performance V-8 engine while integrating powerful electric capabilities.

The Urus SE features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers 620 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque. It is complemented by an electric motor integrated within an eight-speed automatic transmission, adding an extra 192 horsepower and 483 Nm of torque. The overall system output reaches an impressive 800 horsepower and 950 Nm torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

Lamborghini has also focused on enhancing driving range and efficiency with this hybrid model. The new Urus SE includes a 25.7-kWh lithium-ion battery installed below the cargo floor, which allows for an electric-only range of over 60 km—a notable feature for those seeking to decrease their carbon footprint without sacrificing performance.

Design-wise, the Urus SE showcases new Matrix LED headlights that reflect a bull's tail pattern, design inspiration from the Revuelto supercar at the front, and elements reminiscent of the iconic Gallardo at the rear that increase downforce by 35% over previous models like the Urus S.

Comparison tests show that against its predecessors—the Urus S and Urus Performante—the plug-in hybrid is faster off the line but offers varying results in top speed and acceleration dynamics.

Customization options for prospective owners are extensive. Lamborghini offers new 23-inch wheels, over one hundred body colors, forty-seven interior themes, and opportunities through its Ad Personam program for unique one-off builds inspired by individual tastes.

The Urus SE comes with a pair of 12.3-inch screens and four new selectable modes: EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge. These are on top of the usual Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve, Sabbia, and Terra.

Environmentally speaking, Lamborghini notes an emission reduction of up to 80% compared to purely internal combustion engine models previously available.

Stefano Cossalter, Product Line Director for Lanzador and Urus: “The Urus SE is a fundamental evolutionary step, not only in terms of sustainability by virtue of a radical reduction in CO2 emissions, but also in terms of performance and sportiness, thanks to the adoption of cutting-edge technical solutions starting with the hybrid powertrain. The Urus SE is our Super SUV with two hearts: one thermal and linked to our roots, the other electric and futuristic. Beating in unison they offer a new interpretation of the unmistakeable Lamborghini personality, but taken to a new level.”
