Victimes & Citoyens started this campaign based on alarming data from the French road safety observatory. Men are responsible for 84% of fatal traffic accidents in France and 75% for those causing serious injuries. Moreover, 93% of drunk-driving offenses involved male drivers. Women are eight times less likely than men to cause such accidents, despite constituting 42% of drivers and having nearly equal annual mileage.
The campaign spreads awareness via posters featuring QR codes linking to further data validation, enhancing transparency and credibility. They also introduced a chatbot on X (formerly Twitter) that provides additional facts when users interact with the hashtag "#femmeauvolant."
Michèle Mouton, a renowned rally driver, lent her support to the message of the campaign in an interview with RTL. She noted that women tend to be more cautious drivers, consider others on the road, are less likely to drink and drive, and have a stronger sense of self-preservation.
