Italian design house Pininfarina has styled a new barchetta-like sports car named "Midsummer" for Morgan, making it public in July during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The strictly limited production run of just 50 units, priced between $152,000 and $190,000, sold out quickly. Inspired by Pininfarina's designs from the 1930s and 1940s, this model shines as a modern embodiment of classical aesthetics combined with contemporary technology.

The Midsummer is built on the platform of the Morgan Plus Six introduced in 2019. It features a hand-beaten aluminium body and does not have a standard windshield but rather minimalistic aero screens. The car boasts round headlights that integrate turn signals and daytime running lights. It also comes fitted with specialised 19-inch forged wheels that weigh only 22 lbs each.

These wheels are part of its unique allure, described as disc-like with retro styling. They contribute to improved aerodynamics and smoother airflow around the vehicle's sides. Furthermore, these wheels support Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and offer substantial weight reduction benefits-6.6 lbs lighter than the wheels used on the standard Plus Six.

According to Autocar, the pricing was set depending on specific configurations chosen by buyers; their configurations spanned from $152,000 to $190,000.

Morgan announced that following the rapid sell-out of Midsummer, they are now receptive to proposals for other special projects.

To give some more context about entities involved: Morgan is renowned for its production of classic sports cars integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern performance elements like BMW engines. Pininfarina's historical design prowess stretches back through decades where their creations left significant marks on global automotive aesthetics. Their venture into this project breathes nostalgic yet fresh life into both brands through the Midsummer model.
