Hyundai has unveiled a potent variant of its Ioniq 5 N for the Pikes Peak hill climb event. The vehicle boasts significant enhancements, including a power increase to 678 HP and accentuated external sound capabilities.

In April 2024, Hyundai introduced four Ioniq 5 N vehicles dedicated to this event. Among them, two are maintained nearly as standard models meant for production EV record attempts with only essential safety modifications. Meanwhile, the other two have been transformed into Time Attack (TA) Spec models equipped with robust racing features. These TA Spec cars include a massive aero kit with components like a gigantic spoiler, side sills, and fender flares. They are fitted with high-performance 18-inch forged wheels carrying Yokohama slicks and supported by advanced braking systems featuring six-piston front and four-piston rear brakes.

The suspension on these TA Spec models is highly tailored for competitive racing with three-way adjustable dampers that allow for alterations in ride height and camber. The powertrain also receives a special tune-up, injecting an additional 37 HP from its rear motor in full overboost mode.

Apart from mechanical upgrades, these special editions feature Hyundai's new "Active Sound+" technology which includes exterior speakers capable of reaching sound levels up to 120 dB. The intention behind these enhanced speakers is to improve safety by alerting pedestrians and other hill climbers of the car’s approach.

This project also marks a continued collaboration between Hyundai and the Gran Turismo franchise, hinting at future inclusions of Pikes Peak action in GT7 video game series.
