Toyota has issued a recall for its Tundra and Lexus LX 600 models equipped with the V35A-FTS V6 engine. This recall affects approximately 112,000 vehicles across the U.S. and Canada from model years 2022 to 2023. The issue centers around potential machining debris that could lead to serious engine problems, including stalling and failure.

Toyota discovered that debris left during the engine manufacturing process might cause rough engine operation, strange knocking sounds, occasional stalling, or prevent the vehicle from starting. The most severe concern is a vehicle stalling at high speeds, which heightens the risk of accidents on highways.

The total number of affected vehicles includes about 102,000 in the U.S. and nearly 10,000 in Canada. To address this situation, Toyota plans to notify owners by late July 2024 through first-class mail instructing them on necessary steps. Most likely, Toyota will replace the engines in affected vehicles.

Vehicle owners can check whether their cars are impacted by visiting Toyota's or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)'s website and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Financially, this recall poses a significant expense for Toyota but is seen as necessary to maintain their reputation for reliability and customer safety. Currently, Toyota is working on developing an effective remedy for this problem.
