General Motors is recalling 13,464 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles due to a problem with the seat belt retractor. The recall includes 2024 and 2025 model years.

The fault in the seat belt mechanism was first identified on 26 February 2024, when a GM engineer reported it via Speak Up For Safety. A formal investigation began on 9 April after 56 related complaints were received. To date, there have been no reported injuries or accidents related to the condition.

GM found that two internal components of the seat belt retractors in these vehicles were out of specification. These defective components could cause the driver and passenger seat belt retractors to lock in the retracted position, rendering the seat belts unusable.

Chevy Corvette vehicles manufactured between 18 September 2023 and 22 March 2024 are affected by the recall. General Motors plans to notify customers of this recall starting July 22, alerting them to get checked at authorised dealerships.
