The ID.UNYX, first seen in March through China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, is based on the Cupra Tavascan. It is the inaugural model in VW's new ID.UX series, which will include four more EVs by 2027.
The ID.UNYX measures 4,663 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,610 mm in height, with a 2,766 mm wheelbase. Its shape closely resembles the Tavascan, but with revisions to align with the VW ID family. The front fascia features sharp headlights connected by an LED light bar.
Showcased in grey, the ID.UNYX sports gloss black elements on the front fascia, a gold-and-black VW badge, black A-pillars, rocker panels, and a rear diffuser. The rear features LED taillights with an intricate lighting signature and a light bar.
Volkswagen ID.UNYX
All ID.UNYX versions will have an 82.4 kWh battery pack from CATL. Entry-level models will feature a single rear motor with 228 hp, while flagship models will have a dual-motor setup with a combined 335 hp. The base model will offer a range of 385 miles (621 km), while the dual-motor version will have a range of 351 miles (565 km) according to Chinese testing standards.
Pricing details for the ID.UNYX have not been announced. VW describes it as a “sub-brand for China,” indicating it and future ID.UX models are unlikely to be sold outside of China.
