Toyota has just updated the GR86 in Japan, and now Subaru is following suit with the BRZ model. The updated BRZ features a new "Sport" button on the center console, available only with the manual gearbox.

Pressing this button enhances throttle response for improved acceleration, and the Active Sound Control system amplifies engine noise in Sport mode.

Like the 2025 Toyota GR86, the Subaru BRZ now has retuned shock absorbers and power steering for better handling and ride comfort. For the automatic version, the rpm limit range has been increased to minimize over-revving.

The BRZ also features slightly revised daytime running lights. Unlike Toyota, which introduced a special Ridge Green Limited variant for the GR86, Subaru has not announced a special edition for the BRZ.

The updated BRZ debuted publicly on July 14 at the Fuji 86/BRZ Style 2024 event. Subaru aims to sell around 300 units per month in Japan. Prices start at 3,322,000 yen (approximately $20,900) and go up to 3,817,000 yen (about $24,000) for the STI Sport trim with the six-speed automatic.

Additionally, Subaru offers a track-only BRZ Cup Car Basic with steel wheels and a manual gearbox for 3,722,400 yen ($23,400).
