Christopher Pagani, the founder’s son and Pagani’s marketing director, mentioned in an interview with CarBuzz that the company is still working on the electric car project. "We loved working on the electric car, and we still are working on this project, so it's not a closed chapter for us," he stated.
Pagani emphasized that for their hypercars, performance is defined by vehicle dynamics rather than sheer horsepower or top speed. The company has yet to produce a full-scale working prototype, and in 2023, Christopher mentioned that current battery technology is too heavy for the type of EV Pagani aims to create. The goal is to innovate in this space when they finally introduce an electric vehicle.
Despite the ongoing interest and efforts, an electric Pagani hypercar is not expected in the near future. Additionally, Pagani dealers, who play a crucial role in selling these cars, have shown little interest in an EV.
Pagani is not alone in witnessing a growing disinterest in electric hypercars among high-end customers. Mate Rimac noted earlier this year that many wealthy clients are now seeking combustion engines and an analog driving experience. As electric vehicle prices drop and become mainstream, affluent customers may prefer to distinguish themselves with traditional combustion engines, which should ensure continued demand for Pagani and its competitors.
