The teasers reveal the model’s Chinese origins, combining elements of a small hatchback and a minivan. The styling is expected to mirror the Baojun Cloud, also known as the Wuling Cloud EV in Indonesia, with MG’s changes likely limited to new emblems on the front bumper and tailgate.
The dimensions of all three models are 4,295 mm (191.1 inches) in length with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm (106.3 inches). This makes them 129 mm (5.1 inches) longer than the Chevrolet Bolt and just 10 mm (0.4 inches) shorter than the Chevrolet Bolt EUV.
Despite its compact size, the minivan-like design promises a spacious cabin with a five-seat layout and a large boot. Interior features include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, plush diamond-patterned seats, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). However, it’s unclear which of these features will be available in the Indian-spec MG.
Baojun Cloud
In China, the Baojun Cloud offers battery options of 37.9 kWh or 50.6 kWh, providing ranges of up to 360 km (224 miles) and 460 km (286 miles), respectively. Both versions are powered by a single electric motor producing 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and driving the front wheels. It remains to be seen if the MG-branded EV will have different specifications.
The Baojun Cloud is produced in China by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture. MG, fully owned by SAIC, leverages this connection to access the Chinese EV. According to Autocar India, pricing in India might start below Rs 20 lakh ($23,884), positioning it as a competitor to the Tata Nexo EV and Mahindra XUV400 electric SUVs.
MG entered the Indian market in 2019 with the MG Hector SUV, a rebadged Baojun 530/Wuling Almaz. Similarly, the entry-level MG Comet EV, launched in 2023, is essentially a rebadged Wuling Air.
