The Q50 first hit the market in 2014 and stayed around for about a decade. Over the years, Infiniti made small changes to how it looked but kept the same basic design.
In its final years, the Q50 came with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine and a seven-speed automatic transmission. Buyers could choose between rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions. The base model packed 300 horsepower, while the sportier Red Sport 400 bumped that up to 400 horsepower. The Red Sport 400 could go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
Earlier in its life, the Q50 had different engine options. From 2014 to 2016, it came with a 3.7-liter V-6 that made 328 horsepower. There was also a hybrid version from 2014 to 2018 that combined a 3.5-liter V-6 with an electric motor for a total of 359 horsepower. For a few years, Infiniti even offered a smaller turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower as an entry-level option.
Infiniti once teased us with a super-powered version of the Q50 called the Eau Rouge. They showed it off at the 2014 Detroit auto show, and it looked really cool with its carbon fiber body parts. It was supposed to have a 560-horsepower engine from the Nissan GT-R and all-wheel drive. Sadly, Infiniti scrapped the idea in 2015, so it never made it to showrooms.
Even though the Q50 is going away, Infiniti might not be done with sedans forever. They've shown off an electric sedan concept called the Vision Qe. There's a chance we'll see a production version called the Q70 by 2026. It might share some parts with a new electric Nissan Maxima.
