DSV, a global logistics firm, has placed a massive order for 300 electric semi trucks from Volvo Trucks. This move will give DSV one of the largest electric trucking fleets in Europe.

The order includes Volvo FH Aero Electric models, which are among the company's most efficient EVs with improved aerodynamics. DSV plans to deploy these trucks throughout its European operations. The delivery is set to start in the fourth quarter of 2024 and continue until the end of 2025.

DSV currently has over 20,000 trucks on the road daily, moving goods around the world. The company aims to have 2,000 electric trucks in operation by 2030. This order is a significant step towards that goal and aligns with DSV's commitment to the Science-based targets initiative, which aims to reduce emissions in the transport industry.

Volvo Trucks has seen a surge in demand for its electric vehicles. In 2023, they delivered 1,977 Class 8 trucks, a 256% increase from the previous year. The company has continued to see strong interest from customers in 2024. In the first quarter of 2024, Volvo Trucks captured 56% of the electric truck market in Europe and 44% in the US.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in the partnership with DSV:

"I'm very proud to deepen the partnership we have with DSV. Collaboration and a strong commitment to really make a difference is essential for making sustainable transport and big CO2 reductions a reality. This order is proof of their trust in our company and shows that zero-exhaust emissions transport is a viable solution here and now."

Søren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, emphasized the importance of collaboration in fighting climate change:

"Collaboration across sectors is key to battle climate change, and we are happy to extend our partnership with Volvo in our joint effort to reduce emissions in the transport industry. As a global leader in logistics, we must try to stay at the forefront of the green transition and this agreement is a fantastic example of how new technologies can be brought to market at scale to make them more accessible for our customers. The deal with Volvo is an important step towards enabling a more sustainable future in trucking."

In addition to the electric trucks, DSV has also ordered 500 Volvo Trucks with Penta diesel and gas powerplants. Both DSV and Volvo Group have committed to the Science-based targets initiative, aligning their goals with the Paris Agreement to reduce emissions in the transport industry.

After fulfilling DSV's order, Volvo Trucks will have more than 4,000 fully electric semi trucks on the road.
