Stellantis, the company that owns Chrysler, has announced a big recall of Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The recall affects 1.46 million vehicles worldwide, with most of them in the US.

The problem? There's a software bug in the anti-lock brake system. This glitch could turn off the electronic stability control system, which might make the trucks more likely to crash. But don't worry - the regular brakes still work fine.

The recall covers Ram 1500 pickup trucks from 2019 and 2021-2024. If you own one of these trucks, you'll get a letter in the mail in early October. When you do, you'll need to take your truck to a dealership. They'll update the software in the ABS control module to fix the issue.

So far, there haven't been any crashes or injuries because of this problem. But if you see the ABS, ESC, Adaptive Cruise Control, or Forward Collision Warning lights come on when you start your truck, that might be a sign of the issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says this software problem means the trucks don't meet the federal safety standard for electronic stability control systems. If you're not sure if your truck is part of the recall, you can use the NHTSA's recall search tool to check.
