Volkswagen has revealed its facelifted Taos compact SUV, showcasing a new, slimmer grille design that marks a departure from the large grilles of previous models.
VW spokespersons explained to Carscoops, that feedback from customers indicated that the light bar wasn't prominent enough with the older, larger grille design. The revised design, first introduced on the Mk8 Golf and later seen on models like the ID.4 and European Tiguan, will now expand across VW's lineup.
The trend towards smaller grilles aligns with customer demand for more modern, minimalist aesthetics, moving away from the company's traditional three-bar chrome design. This change is also expected to feature on new models like the upcoming Tiguan and 2026 Atlas.
VW has made similar design shifts before, notably in the late '80s with the B3 Passat, which had a smooth front-end design reminiscent of air-cooled models from the brand’s rear-engine era. This new approach seems to reference VW’s past while embracing a more futuristic style.
