The company launched these new versions about a year after the 3008 debut and six months after the 5008 hit the market. The move gives customers more choices when it comes to powertrains and improved range for electric models.
Peugeot's new plug-in hybrid setup pairs an updated turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder PureTech engine with a 125 PS electric motor. The motor sits inside a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Together, they produce 195 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels.
Peugeot 3008
The PHEV models come with a 21 kWh battery that charges in 2 hours and 45 minutes. In electric-only mode, the 3008 PHEV can travel up to 84 km, while the 5008 PHEV manages 82 km. Drivers can choose between Hybrid, Electric, and Sport modes.
While less powerful than the older all-wheel-drive version, the new PHEV offers a longer zero-emission range. It also keeps the same boot space as its BEV and mild-hybrid siblings.
Peugeot 5008
For those wanting even more range, Peugeot will soon release long-range electric versions of both models. The E-3008 will come with a 96.9 kWh battery, up from the standard 73 kWh unit. This larger battery will allow the E-3008 to travel up to 700 km on a single charge. The E-5008 will manage 668 km.
These long-range models will use a single electric motor producing 230 PS. They'll also work with 160 kW DC fast charging. Peugeot plans to position these as the top models in their respective lineups.
Customers in most European markets can already order the PHEV versions. The long-range electric models will arrive shortly after their debut at the Paris Motor Show.
