Stellantis, Citroen's parent company, has been busy updating its mid-sized SUVs. We've already seen new versions of the Peugeot 3008 and Opel Grandland. Now, it's the C5 Aircross's turn in the spotlight.
The new C5 Aircross Concept is bigger than the current model. It's 4.65 meters long, which is 15 centimeters longer than before. At 1.66 metres, it's also 3 centimetres lower than its predecessor.
Citroen has taken the design language they used on the smaller C3 and e-C3 and applied it to this larger SUV. You'll notice a similar face, headlights, and overall shape. The concept also sports some fancy aerodynamic features like flaps and inlets.
Under the hood, Citroen plans to offer a range of options. There'll be a petrol version with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine and a mild hybrid system. For those who want to plug in, there's a hybrid that can go about 80 kilometers on electricity alone. And for the full electric experience, there's a version with a big 98kWh battery that Citroen says can go more than 640 kilometers on a single charge.
Citroen is really talking up the comfort of this new C5 Aircross. They say it'll have a super smooth suspension, though they're keeping the details under wraps for now. Their goal is to let five people "relax and travel in complete serenity."
The company also claims this new model will be more comfortable, spacious, and practical than the current C5 Aircross. We'll have to wait and see how it all comes together when the production version rolls out next year.
