Hyundai plans to launch a new version of its all-new Inster crossover called the Inster Cross. This off-road-inspired variant will add some rugged flair to Hyundai's mainstream electric car lineup.

The Inster Cross will sport chunkier bumpers with skid plates, special 17-inch alloy wheels, and a roof rack. Buyers can also opt for an exclusive Amazonas Green Matte paint. Inside, the Cross gets model-specific grey and yellow upholstery.

Hyundai will start making the Inster Cross later this year at its Korean plant. Customers should get their hands on the first deliveries in early to mid-2025.

The standard Inster aims squarely at the mainstream EV market with a price under 25,000 euros. Hyundai based the Inster on its Casper city car, currently sold only in Korea with a gas engine. But they stretched the Casper's platform by 230mm overall and 180mm in the wheelbase. This improves practicality and makes room for the battery pack.

At 3.8m long, 1.6m wide, and 1.6m tall, the Inster slots between the Dacia Spring and Citroën ë-C3 size-wise. It seats four, with rear seats that slide and recline. All seats fold flat for versatility. Smart packaging makes it as practical as five-seat competitors.

Two battery options will be available: a 42 kWh standard pack and a 49 kWh long-range version. The front-mounted motor makes 97 hp in base form or 115 hp with the bigger battery. Both put out 147 Nm of torque. Hyundai claims 355 km of WLTP range for the long-range model.

All Insters come with a heat pump and 85 kW DC fast charging. They also offer Vehicle-to-Load capability, letting owners power external devices or even charge other EVs.

Deliveries of the standart Hyundai Inster are set to start by next spring.
