The Opel Combo 4x4 has a 96 kW (130 hp) turbo diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car is front-wheel drive by default, but when the electronics detect a loss of traction, the electric motor on the rear axle is engaged. For this purpose, the Combo has an additional 48-volt battery with a capacity of 4.8 kWh, which is charged while the car is in motion.
However, the all-wheel drive system is not the only feature of the new Combo 4x4. It has received special mudguards for the engine, transmission and fuel tank, as well as an increased ground clearance of 90 mm. According to Dangel, ground clearance is 205 mm, which is only 10 mm less than the full off-road Toyota Land Cruiser 250.
The all-wheel drive version is available in L1 (4,401mm) and L2 (4,751mm) body styles and exclusively with a diesel engine. Dangel offers conversion from Combo to Combo 4x4 for €9,250 (ex VAT) with a two-year warranty on its components. A towbar, extended warranty and additional accessories are optionally available.
